Beyond The Gold’s Worth

For this post I wanted to steer away from my typical post and talk about having a friendship that is truly worth more than gold. In one of my Facebook post I reminisced about how lucky of a guy I am to have found a great group of friends. Growing up I had learned to accept that I couldn’t call everyone my friends. In a world like today you really got to be careful who you call your friends. It’s hard to find people you can trust to be there for you no matter what but I truly believe that I have found a group of friends that is worth more than gold. The group of individuals that made their way into my life, I wouldn’t give them up. You can’t put a price tag on a real friendship. Yes. money can get you basically anything you want but not true friends. Money can make you happy but it can’t listen to your problems and help you get through them. If you have a quick second please take a moment right now and comment below. Tell me your concept of a true friendship. Continue reading “Beyond The Gold’s Worth”

Beyond The Tepui

A team of three set out on a exhibition to one of earth’s wonders.

The team of Joe Riis, National Geographic photographer, Mark SynnottNorth Face climber, and Dr. Bruce Means, the scientist, traveled to Mount Weiassipu. Mount Weiassipu is located within Guyana, South America. They traveled to the top of the mile high Tepui.

This video displays some of the most amazing still photography images. They capture the essence and wonders of what nature truly looks like.

One of my passions is to travel the world and explore the known and unknown wonders of this world. After watching this video, my eagerness to want to go on many exhibitions just spiked through the roof.

Beyond The 2,500-Year-Old Mummy

One team on Friday Dec. 5, embarked on a journey to uncover a fragile Egyptian coffin that held the remains of a 2,500-year-old mummified 14-year-old Egyptian boy.

A team of three scientists and a conservator at Field Museum on Chicago, I.L., had taken the lid off the Egyptian coffin using specially created clamps as a cradle to lift the coffin’s lid, according to Associated Press writer Caryn Rousseau. The had uncovered the coffin in a humidity-controlled lab. To bring the coffin into the room they had used surgical gloves to lift the coffin and walk it safety to a table.

The Field Museum received this artifact back in the 1920s from the Chicago Historical Society.

The artifact is set to premier in fall of 2016 in a showcase called “Mummies: Images of the Afterlife.” Rousseau stated that the artifact is “expected to premier in September at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, then travel to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in fall 2016.”

Beyond The Thankful Festivities

First off, I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate this day of feasting.

If you and the family are looking for a great holiday movie to bring everyone together, I recommend the movie Free Birds. It’s a great movie for the kids. Free Birds is about two turkeys traveling back in time to take turkeys off the menu for thanksgiving. I watched this awhile back with my family and I can honestly say I really enjoyed the movie.

Don’t forget to catch, if not all but one of the NFL games that are coming on today. I know some of you got those type of families who loves to chow down on food and watch some good ol’ American football. The first match up of the day will be between the (5-6) Chicago Bears and the (7-4) Detroit Lions. This will be their first of two match ups of the season. The Lions are second in the NFC North division and the Bears sit right behind them in third place.

The second matchup of the day will be between the (8-3) Philadelphia Eagles and the (8-3) Dallas Cowboys. This should be a great match up between two great teams looking to take first place in the NFC East division. This will be their first of two match ups of the season. Tony Romo and the Cowboys will look to beat the Eagles. Mark Sanchez and the Eagles will try to continue keep their momentum from last week’s win over the Tennessee Titans, to secure a victory.

The last game of the day will be between the (7-4) Seattle Seahawks and (7-4) San Francisco 49ers. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be a heated matchup. The Seahawks are the team that stopped the 49ers from going to Super Bowl XLVIII. This will be their first of two match ups of the season. Both teams will be fighting for second place in the NFC West division.

Beyond The Surface Of The Water

There are a vast variety of different forms of art in this world, some of which we may have never seen or heard of before. Paper marbling is one form of art that I really grew very interested in. In both the Islamic and Turkish cultures, they call this type of art, Ebru. Ebru is just another word for paper marbling. Some day I would love to design something using this technique. The video up above is truly a breathtaking video. If you love art you have to love the nature of the art, the colors, the style and the art overall breathtaking. You have to admire creativity. The colorful dots that you saw in the video is tragacanth. Tragacanth is a type of natural gum. Most of the type of brushes an artist will choose to use are horse hair brushes.

There are a variety videos on YouTube where someone is creating something using this technique. I honestly think this technique is one of the most creative art techniques. It’s not something simple; it’s not like the rest of the art techniques you see everywhere. This is a popular technique in most cultures but not a lot people really know about it. If you have time I recommend, watching other videos to learn more about this technique.

When you think of ballet you really don’t think of technology. Before, I thought putting those two words together didn’t make sense but then I came across this video on Facebook. A designer by the name of Lesie Trubat has created a new piece of technology called Electronic Traces. Electronic Traces are pointe shoes that are capable of tracing the movement of ballet dancers. While it’s recording the dancer’s movements, it’s sending traces of the moves to the application in your mobile device. I think it’s cool that dancers will get see their own movement. I personally think dancing is a form of art but in its own unique way. Click the link below to see the full story.

Once upon a time a woman named Kat O’Sullivan, lived in an ordinary 170-year-old farmhouse. O’Sullivan is not just any woman, she’s an extraordinary artistic woman. One day she decided to turn her 170-year-old farmhouse into a magical rainbow farmhouse. The house sits close along the shore. Some say if you walk deep into the woods of High Falls, New York, you might come across this magical rainbow farmhouse. When you see the house, you may feel like you’re imagining it or you’re in a Hansel and Gretel situation but you’re not. Yes, you’re eyes, they are not deceiving you at all; the house is real. This house is said to have been built back in the 1840. Click the link below to get an exclusive look at the rest of the story.

Are you looking to find ways to showcase your art to the world? No worries my friends, there are a variety of different social media sites in which you can use to launch your artwork to the world. If you’re an artist or photographer who is looking to get your work out to the world and get discovered, try out the site deviantART.

According to Wikipedia, DeviantART, Inc was founded on Aug. 7, 2000 by Scott Jarkoff, Matthew Stephens, Angelo Sotira and many others. DeviantART is a online social networking community and a tool that can help artist and photographers get there work on there. A lot of artist that I know, they are using DeviantART as a tool to launch the works of art out into the world.

There are many other sites besides DeviantART, and which one to use could use to launch their works of art. Some individuals might use Facebook as a way to launch their artwork. Facebook allows you to create a page, which you can then share your material to the broad audience of Facebook. Besides Facebook there are social media networks that will help you to lunch your artwork like Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest and many others.

Beyond The Artist

"Transquility" by Morgan Archer
“Tranquility” by Morgan Archer

On Nov. 10 at the College at Brockport, student Morgan Archer held a showcasing of her art in the building Tower.

Archer is truly a beautiful and phenomenal artist who is really gifted with amazing art skills. After seeing her works of art, it inspired me to want to push myself as an artist, to be good as Archer. I had got a chance to interview Archer about her artistic background. She really had a lot of things to say about her art work.

Be looking out for the video of the interview on my features page. I decided to start producing my mini series called Beyond The Lens. This will be my first time doing this so hopefully it turns out great.

Beyond The Shadow Attraction

Art is not just about drawing, there’s a lot more to it. There are many different foms of art, that it’s a very board topic to talk about. For this blog post I wanted to talk about a form of art called shadow play. I didn’t really get caught onto shadows plays until the summer of 2014. I started watching this one group called Attraction, a lot because they do a phenomenal job performing and telling a story. Dancing is a great form of art because it’s a way for people to express their self. The shadow plays they performed on Britain’s Got Talent were absolutely beautiful, the illustrations were excellent. The stories they tell are sad but powerful with a deep and emotional power-driven message. One of their performances had Simon Cowell in tears. Check out the video below.

Please comment and like below, let me know your thoughts on shadow plays.
